Five generations of Deverells, since 1928

Annaharvey Farm has been home to the Deverell family since 1928. It is now a 420 acre farm with four main enterprises:

  • Equestrian - We have an equestrian centre with about 75 horses on the farm

  • Guesthouse - We provide accommodation in our 100 year old barn.

  • Crops - We grow tillage crops such as wheat, oats, barley and oilseed rape.

  • Beef - We rear beef steers on the farm.

Tillage

We grow a variety of crop, including wheat, oats, barley and oilseed rape with a busy harvest towards the end of each summer.

We love nature

Our farm is a REPS (Rural Environment Protection Scheme) farm where we are obliged to farm in a environmentally friendly way. We provide extra natural habitats such as planting hedges and leaving wild areas for grasses and plants to grow to allow native species of plants and animals to flourish. We love our guests to explore our farm keeping an eye out for the wild plants and animals that exist on our farm.

Flora

Annaharvey Farm has several spaces allocated to woodland and forestry. There are many mature oak trees, horse chestnut trees and ash around the farm along with lots of hawthorn and beech hedgerows. These serve as a home to many species of birds, animals and insects etc.

Fauna

Annaharvey Farm is home to a huge variety of wildlife. We have been delighted in recent years to have noticed increasing numbers of buzzard and pine martin along with the fox, rabbit and kestrel that have been living here for many years. Look closely in our rivers and you can often see White-Clawed Crayfish which is a protected species in Ireland.

Honey Bees

For the last few years we have become increasingly interested in honey bees and the amazing work they do each summer. We have several hives located around the farm where the bees can access the oilseed rape and heather on the adjacent bog. They also love the rosemary plants and horse chestnut when in flower.
