Annaharvey Newsletter - July 2010

Hi everyone – hope you are all enjoying the summer as we are here – the weather has been brilliant throughout May and June but a bit more mixed since the start of July – however it has remained warm so we still feel we are having a summer! We have had a number of events that have been very successful over the past few weeks – 2 IHTS events one in May and one just over in July – the ground conditions on both occasions were good so that is very important to the general participant.

Henry has Rachael’s horse Aussie back in action again after a long break and he was ridden by one of our livery clients in the last event going round the show jumping and cross country clear so there was great jubilation at the end of the day – prior to this he only competed at Dressage but Henry has always been adamant that he was also a good jumping horse and of course he was right as usual! Sam took him show jumping the other day and also went clear so will maybe bring him to the next event he goes to for a run. Aisling has been having success with her horse Alessi too, she won her class at the last Riding Club event she was competing in which was great for her as she hasn’t been competing over the past 2 years with being pregnant with Maeve and then she took some time to recover from carrying such a big baby! Maeve is blooming – she will be 1 year old next week and is always full of the joys of spring – though her parents assure us that she also has her moments! We so enjoy the little ones coming in to see us and nearly feel deprived on a day we don’t get to see them.

We are getting ready for the Connemara show on Sunday – the grounds are looking great so hopefully it will be fairly dry – it is usually quite a spectacle seeing all the ponies and owners in their best showing gear and everyone around watching and commenting on the performances.

The guesthouse has been busy with clients coming and going, and Paddy is being kept busy with lots of teaching in the yard – there have been a number of summer camps which have also kept the ponies very much occupied!  We are busy getting lots of jams and chutneys made for the winter and we hope to attend Tullamore Show and the Ploughing Match with Rachael to promote the Christmas Hampers, Cookery Classes, Art Workshops and Floral decoration workshops we plan to run in the autumn – yes I know it’s only mid summer but we have to plan well ahead to get the business and this year I have some extra help from my niece Emma, who is discovering the joys of jam making!!

Well that’s about it for now, busy days lately so time at the computer is very limited – enjoy the rest of the summer
Lynda, Henry and Family.
