Annaharvey Newlsetter - August 2009
Hi folks, after a long silence I have finally found time to write this news letter – we have been waiting patiently for the arrival of baby Maeve who made her way into the world on Thurs evening – she weighed in at 9lbs. 4 ozs. and needless to say Sam and Aisling are over the moon with her, as indeed we all are – Sam has become a besotted father and is lifting her up every time she murmurs – we’ll see how long that lasts!!
The summer has been slipping away on us, we are now into August and have had successful events taking place over the past month despite the not so clement weather – unfortunately we had to cancel the IHTS One Day Event for the second time as the ground conditions wouldn’t have been favourable. We were able to go ahead with the Connemara Show which was a great success, wonderful ponies on show, and a great atmosphere all round.
The harvest is getting closer, with the fields turning to gold and Henry getting edgy about the weather – it is so important to get good drying conditions before any corn can be cut and at the moment it feels like we are in the monsoons – however we will remain optimistic that all will be well.
Paddy has unfortunately broken his ankle so is out of operation for the next 6 weeks – timing is not great as we still have summer camps and guests coming and going, and also of course Sam is otherwise occupied, but Jenna and Aaron are managing to keep the show on the road.
Rory and Joanna and girls are close to moving into their new home which is looking lovely – we will miss them but I’m sure they will be very glad to have their own space again, and I’m quite sure we will still have them in and out on a regular basis – Kate has to see the "horsies" every day and will shortly be able to run the riding school!
We are trying to get things organised for the autumn – we will have our usual Hunter Trials, and of course Mini, Midi, Maxi, and hope to have at least two art workshops with Kevin Flood and Harrie McManus – October 9–11 for Kevin and 17/18 for Harrie, so looking forward to some great works of art being produced!
That’s about it for the moment, enjoy the rest of the summer, and we’ll have an update again soon.
Lynda.
