February 2008 - Newsletter
Hi there, well here we are into the middle of February, and the sun is shining, the birds are singing and Henry is spreading dung – so spring is well and truly here!! We are having a great spell of weather, foggy and misty in the morning and bright cold days by mid morning and we are thoroughly enjoying it, as are the horses and ponies who are a bit on the frisky side when out in the sand arena.
Our Indoor League has started and is being well attended, with the usual competitiveness breaking out amongst the Maxi riders in particular – mind you the Midi winning rosette went to Germany last weekend when Sandra Pietch cleared the boards with Ruby, which was a great achievement.
This weekend Sam and Aisling were away in Birmingham at a trade show for our Country Clothing and Tack shop, so we are looking forward to seeing the new range of Toggi and Musto.
Rory is off in Brussels at an Alternative Energy meeting and Rachael is in Australia on holidays, so with Aaron back in Belfast we are very much "Home Alone" which is quite unusual for us!
We hope to host 4 Hunter Trials this spring, the first one on St. Patrick’s Day, so hopefully the weather will stay good –Sam is busy making new portable jumps and is also working on a new course incorporating new jumps up on the hill at the back of the yard – new steps and a new road way giving access down near the plantation.
We are working on redeveloping our web site with Dermot – Henry’s brother – yes we keep even that within the family!! It is exciting all the things that can be done now, and we are looking forward to clients being able to type in "Bed and Breakfast Tullamore" and finding us with ease, but also a whole new look to the Equestrian and Guesthouse so watch this space!
Next weekend we are looking forward to our Art Workshop, there are a good few clients coming to it so it will be interesting to see how much work is produced – it is always good fun as everyone is relaxed and here to enjoy themselves – when I get the smell of the paint I get a very strong urge to get out the brushes, but unfortunately it is hard to find the time for it.
We have been keen followers of the boys rugby team this as in every other year – we are very well represented this season in particular, as we have Rhys Morgan working for us, all the way from New Zealand, but really here to play rugby, then we have Ivor – a cousin of the boys, and last but not least –Rory and Aaron, so we have had a great season attending matches and cheering them on– we really enjoy it. Of course Katie makes it to most of the matches as well to cheer on her Dad and to play with all the other little kids there – she is showing good potential with a rugby ball, now that she is walking everywhere!
We are looking forward to the season really getting going again, with lots of new guests and plenty of old guests coming to stay with us – already we have had clients from Germany and USA, along with Irish guests, so we have been quite busy, along with replenishing our jam and chutney stocks which were seriously depleted over the Christmas period – we are planning to sell more into the local and not so local shops in the weeks and months ahead which is another challenge we have to master!
That’s about all for now, we hope you are all getting similar weather to what we are getting and also have the opportunity to enjoy it!
Best wishes,
From all in Annaharvey
